New Knight Commanders ~ RCST
On Friday, September 28th, 2007 at a ceremony held in the Cathedral of the Madelieine in Salt Lake City, Utah, Grand Master of the Knights of the Rose, Visc. Brent Spencer, and Grand Prior of Canada, Chev. Orland DeLong, were invested as Knight Commanders in the Portuguese Confraternity called the Royal Confraternity of Sao Teotonio (RCST) by its Prior, Count Ulisses Rolim. Brent was appointed as Delegate for Canada and was recommended for admission by H.G. Bishop Kyrill in recognition of his efforts to promote chivalry and support various mission and relief projects internationally. In turn, Master Spencer recommended Chev. Orland to stand as the representative for the province of Alberta.
The investiture was a multi-order affair, a rare occurrence in the grand scheme of things. Our two senior officers were the only two there from Canada at this international function that included the Portuguese Confraternity of the RCST, the Order of San Tome, and the Order of Michael of the Wing. These were overseen by the Prince Dom Miguel, Duke of Viseau and Infante of Portugal, and conducted by Count Rolim. As well, members were invested and promoted within the Order of St. Lazarus, overseen by the Duke of Seville, and the US Priory of the Templars, overseen by Maj. General Robert Disney.
Brent and Orland had the pleasure of meeting the prince of Ethiopia, grand master of the Order of St. Mary of Zion, who, it turns out, did his BA in Sociology at the University of Alberta in Edmoton.
A great deal of positive order friendship building was done over the course of a couple of evenings.
